Field Trip

As part of our language class, we go on a weekly field trip. This has helped us to use our Portuguese and to also learn of the history of Brazil and its customs. We've gone to museums,  the zoo, restaurants, and shopping. This week we went to a Park - Parque do Mindu. It is located in the heart of the city.  This is a beautiful location. We walked the many trails and took in the lovely sights and sounds. Since our city was carved out the rainforest, there are places where the jungle has been preserved. This is one of the parks. We saw lots of jungle rodents, birds, alligators, mosquitoes, jungle foliage and flowers.  NO SNAKES (they were there. I am glad I did not see them) and no monkeys. We were told to come in the morning to see the monkeys. We had fun and it was nice to get away from the noise of the city for an hour or two.

This rodent (Cotia) is so funny looking. It's back end is higher then the front and the fur on it's back end is orange. Our former missionary, Lynn Haynes, said that they are good to eat! Hmmm?

Some of the animals were VERY tame. :)
